Jacob Tangir, MD

“While I loved bringing new lives into the world as an OB/GYN, my preference as a doctor was to save lives. Gynecology Oncology was a perfect fit for me. It’s the one unique specialty where the surgeon also provides follow-up medical care. I appreciate the opportunity to perform both complex cancer surgeries and then follow my patients as the primary physician through medical treatment when necessary. It is this patient-doctor relationship I treasure.”

Dr. Jacob Tangir is a Board-Certified Gynecologist Oncologist. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He completed both his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Yale University School of Medicine/Yale New Haven Hospital.
Dr. Tangir is expertly trained to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, treat gynecologic cancers, complex gynecologic conditions including endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic pain, vulvar/vaginal issues and prescribe conventional and personalized chemotherapy and palliative care.

A pioneer in using laparoscopic protocols in gynecologic cancer surgery at Yale, Dr. Tangir was an early adopter of robotic surgery in South Florida. He is a professional proponent of the use of robotics as an alternative to radical surgery without compromising the surgical outcome, which is a great benefit to his patients.

His patients praise his professional expertise, stellar outcomes and his excellent bedside manner. Dr. Tangir is regularly described as kind, polite and personable as well as knowledgeable and talented. His gift for putting patients at ease and involving them in the decision-making process is reflected in his sizable practice and online patient reviews.

Praised for his teaching abilities at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Tangir shares his clinical expertise by training and mentoring the next generation of doctors, nurses, and physician assistants from Barry University, Florida International University, and Nova Southeastern University. A talented researcher, he has published numerous articles and abstracts and has been an invited speaker at more than 20 national and international conferences. In 2011, he created a dedicated Clinical Research division within the practice and has been the principal investigator in several clinical trials related to gynecologic cancer and other benign gynecologic conditions.

Dr. Jacob Tangir performed my open myomectomy on March 19, 2020, during the height of the pandemic and his hands are BLESSED. The best doctor ever. I now have a beautiful 1-year-old little girl. Thank you Dr. Tangir.

“Dr. Tangir is one of the best surgeons around. He performed my open myomectomy, a procedure that some doctors prefer not to do. I had over 30 fibroids. He removed all of them successfully!”

“Dr. Tangir and staff were very inviting, nice, and professional. Dr. Tangir took his time with me, really listened, and thoroughly explained things to me. He and the entire staff really treat you as a person and not just “another number”. I highly recommend him.”

“This was a very efficient practice. Everyone was very polite and Dr. Tangir was extremely knowledgeable, soft-spoken, and thorough. I was very pleased and will definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for an excellent gyn/oncology specialist. Thanks to the team, you are all wonderful!”
